How to Set Up and Use Keystone 3 Pro
Keystone 3 Pro is a wallet that uses no cable and no Bluetooth when it signs transactions. Instead, it uses its camera to scan QR codes back and forth with your phone. It has a 4-inch touchscreen, a fingerprint sensor and three separate security chips. This guide goes screen by screen, from switching on for the first time to finishing the pairing with a wallet app on your phone.

Before you start: what you need
- Keystone 3 Pro with at least 20 percent battery
- A computer or phone for opening the device verification page and downloading the firmware file
- A microSD card formatted as FAT32, or the USB cable from the box, for updating the firmware
- The recovery phrase card from the box, and a pen
- About 20 minutes, somewhere nobody can see your screen
Before you set up Check that the box and seals have no signs of being opened. A new device must always take you to the language and create-wallet screens. If you switch it on and find a wallet already set up, or a recovery phrase written out for you in the box, stop immediately, do not send any assets to it, and contact SIAMBC.
How this device works, and why it needs no cable
Keystone 3 Pro signs transactions by scanning QR codes. Your phone shows a QR code of the unsigned transaction, the device reads it with its camera, signs it inside, then shows a QR code of the signature for the phone to read. At no point in the process is there any cable or radio link between them.
The result is that the keys have no path out of the device, even if your phone has malware. The cable in the box is only for charging and updating the firmware. It is not used when you send funds.
Set up on the device
1. Switch on and choose a language
Press and hold the power button until the device turns on. The screen first shows the current firmware version, then the Language screen, where you choose the language you want. Thai is not available yet, so most Thai users choose English.

2. Check that the device is genuine
Open the Device Verification page on Keystone's website from a computer or phone and have the site show a QR code. Then, on the device, tap Scan QR Code and point the camera at that QR code. The device shows an eight-character verification code. Enter that code on the website and click to verify. If the site says the device is safe, tap Success on the device.

If the result is a fail, do not create a wallet and do not send any assets to it. Contact SIAMBC with a screenshot of the result.
You can skip device verification, but you should not. The screen says Skippable, but this step checks that the device was not swapped or modified on its way to you. It takes less than a minute, and it is the only check you can do before you put money in.
Update the firmware
It is easier to do this before you create a wallet, because there is nothing to lose yet. There are two ways, and both give the same result. First check that the battery is at least 20 percent.
3. Option one: update with a microSD card
Insert the microSD card into your computer and format it as FAT32 first. Then download the firmware file from Keystone's update page and place the file keystone3.bin in the root of the card, not in a subfolder. Remove the card from the computer and insert it into the slot on the top of the device. The Firmware Update screen on the device offers two options: Via MicroSD Card and Via USB

Choose Via MicroSD Card, then tap Update via MicroSD, enter your code to confirm, and the screen shows Updating. Do not remove the card or switch off the device during this time. Wait until it finishes, and the device restarts by itself.

If the device cannot find the card, the most common cause is that the card is not FAT32. Format it again and try once more.
4. Option two: update with a USB cable
On the device, choose Via USB, then connect the cable to your computer. The device asks whether to allow a connection to this computer; tap to allow it. Then open the firmware update page in your browser and click install.

The cable option only works on recent enough firmware. If the device is still on a version below 1.0.4, you must update once with a microSD card first. After that, you can use the USB cable for later updates.
Create a wallet
5. Set a PIN
The New Wallet screen lets you choose between Create Wallet, to create a new wallet, and Import Wallet, to bring in an existing wallet. For a first device, choose the first one. The device then asks you to set a PIN and enter it again to confirm. If you want a password with letters instead of digits, tap Use Password at the bottom corner.

6. Choose a backup method and write down the words
The device lets you choose between two backup methods: Standard Seed Phrase, the normal recovery phrase, which suits most people; and Shamir Backup, which splits the phrase into several parts and sets how many parts are needed to recover. It suits people who want to spread their backup across several places. If you are not sure, choose the standard one.
Before showing the words, the device reminds you to look around and make sure nobody can see and no camera is pointed at you. It then shows the recovery phrase on the screen. Write it all on the card in order, and the device then asks you to pick words back to confirm you wrote them correctly. Everything happens on the device screen; you do not type anything anywhere else.

The recovery phrase only appears on the device screen. Write it on the card in the box or on a metal plate. Never take a photo, never type it into a phone or computer, and do not put a phrase created in a phone app into this device, because that phrase has already been on an internet-connected device. SIAMBC never knows your recovery phrase and cannot recover it for you. Nobody can.
7. If you already have a wallet
Choose Import Wallet instead, choose the backup method that matches your existing one, then choose the number of words. It supports 12, 18 and 24 words. Then type the phrase on the device keyboard. Skip this section if you have just created a new wallet.

Pair with a wallet app on your phone
The device holds the keys and signs transactions, while the app shows your balance and broadcasts transactions to the network. Keystone works with many apps, such as OKX Wallet, MetaMask, BlueWallet, Rabby, Safe and BlockWallet. The example below uses OKX Wallet, but other apps work in a similar way: you scan a QR code to pair.
8. Open the Connect Software Wallet menu on the device
On the Keystone home screen, tap the three-dot button, then choose Connect Software Wallet. A list of supported apps appears. Choose the app you will use, and the device shows a QR code for pairing.

9. In the app, choose to use a hardware wallet
Open the app on your phone, choose that you already have a wallet, then choose Hardware wallet, then choose Keystone from the list.

10. Tap Connect now
The app reminds you to open the Connect software wallet menu on the device first, which you already did in step 8. Tap Connect now to open the camera.

11. Scan the QR code and choose an account
The app asks for camera permission first. Tap Allow, then point it at the QR code shown on the Keystone screen. When it is done, the app shows the Select account to connect screen, where you choose which account to use. Normally choose Account 01 for now; you can add other accounts later. Choose it and confirm, and the pairing is complete.

What to do after setup
- Store the recovery phrase card separately from the device, in a different place, and do not let anyone photograph it.
- Receive a small amount first and check that the balance shows correctly before you send a large amount.
- Every time you send, read the details on the device screen before you confirm, rather than trusting only what the phone shows.
- Update the firmware from time to time, because new versions often add supported networks and fix bugs.
Frequently asked questions
With no cable and no Bluetooth, how do I send funds?
It uses the camera to scan QR codes back and forth. Your phone shows a QR code of the unsigned transaction, the device reads it and signs it inside, then shows a QR code of the signature for the phone to read. The keys never travel over a cable or radio.
Can I skip the device verification step?
You can, as the screen says, but you should not. It checks that the device was not swapped on its way to you, takes less than a minute, and can only be done before you put money in.
What is Shamir Backup, and should I use it?
It splits the recovery phrase into several parts and sets how many parts are needed to recover the wallet, for example three parts where any two are enough. It suits people who want to spread their backup across several places, but it also means more things to look after. If you are not sure, the standard recovery phrase is more straightforward.
Can I bring in a recovery phrase from a phone app?
Technically yes, but you should not, because that phrase has already been on an internet-connected device and is at risk from the start. Create a new phrase on the device and move your assets over instead.
I updated the firmware and the device cannot find the card
The most common cause is that the card is not formatted as FAT32. Format it again, and place the keystone3.bin file in the root of the card, not in a subfolder.
Does it work with iPhone?
Yes. It uses no cable or Bluetooth, only the camera to scan QR codes, so it works with both iPhone and Android, as far as the wallet app supports it.
Will SIAMBC or Keystone ask for my recovery phrase?
Neither of them will, under any circumstances, and nobody has any reason to know your recovery phrase. Anyone who asks for it is a scammer, with no exceptions, whether they claim to be SIAMBC staff, use Keystone's name, or say it is for a warranty claim, identity verification, a firmware update or account recovery.
Summary
There are three things you must not get wrong with Keystone 3 Pro: do not skip device verification at the start, write the recovery phrase on the card and store it away from the device, and read the transaction details on the device screen every time before you confirm, because that screen is the only one malware cannot change.
If setup fails or you get stuck anywhere, contact SIAMBC directly for help with using the device, warranty and product exchanges in Thailand.
