The YubiKey 5C NFC is a hardware security key from Yubico. It replaces one-time codes sent by SMS or generated in an authenticator app with a physical key that remains in your possession. An attacker who does not hold the key cannot complete the sign-in, which makes it resistant to phishing.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if I lose the key?
That method of sign-in is no longer available to you, which is why Yubico recommends registering two keys with every account and storing the backup key in a secure place. For this reason, we recommend purchasing two keys.
Does it require charging?
No. The key has no battery and no moving parts; it draws power from the port into which it is inserted.
Is it the same as a hardware wallet?
No. A security key protects your account sign-ins. A hardware wallet protects your digital assets. The two are often used together.
How does it differ from the Security Key Series?
The Security Key Series supports FIDO protocols only and is offered at a lower price. This key adds smart card (PIV), OpenPGP, Yubico OTP, and OATH support.

Return and Exchange Policy
Faulty on arrival: if a device arrives defective — a broken screen, a connectivity fault — we replace it with a new one straight away. No forms, no waiting on the manufacturer.
Warranty: YubiKey and Security Key products carry a 1-year warranty, and claims are handled by us rather than an overseas support queue.
Change of mind or wrong model: we do not accept returns or give refunds, whether or not the box has been opened. We accept returns for defective products only, which we exchange within 30 days of delivery. This is a security limitation of these devices: once a device has left us, we cannot assure the next customer that it has not been interfered with.
How to arrange an exchange for a faulty item
- Message us on LINE at @siambc or email order@siambc.com before sending anything back.
- Include your order number, what is wrong, and a photo or short video.
- Send the item back to us at your own shipping cost. Once we have checked it, we exchange it.
Refunds: faulty items are exchanged rather than refunded.

How to verify that your key is genuine
- The packaging must be fully sealedThe clear plastic packaging must be fully sealed, with no tears, cuts, or signs of having been opened and resealed. If it is damaged, do not use the key; contact us immediately.
- The package contains only the keyThe package contains no cable, PIN card, or code sheet. If anyone provides a PIN or code with the key, do not use the key.
- The key must show no signs of tamperingInspect the edges, seams, and connector for pry marks, adhesive residue, or loose parts. If you find any, do not use the key; contact us immediately.
- A serial number is printed on the backThe back of the key carries a printed serial number and a 2D barcode.
- Verify the key with YubicoEnter yubico.com/genuine in your browser yourself, insert the key, click Verify device, and allow the browser to read the device's make and model. The page reports whether the device is a genuine Yubico product.
- There is no need to open the keyAll of the checks above can be performed without opening the key. Opening the key can damage it and void the warranty.

How much is the YubiKey 5C NFC?

Does it work with iPhone?
Yes. Tap the key against an NFC-enabled iPhone or Android phone to sign in to websites and apps that support FIDO security keys.
What is the default PIN?
FIDO2 has no default PIN; you set one the first time a website or app requests it. The smart card (PIV) application ships with the default PIN 123456 and PUK 12345678, which should be changed before use. How to set and reset the PIN
What happens if I forget the PIN or enter it incorrectly?
After 8 incorrect FIDO2 PIN entries, FIDO2 locks. It must then be reset, which deletes all passkeys on the key, and set up again. How to set and reset the PIN
How does it differ from the Security Key Series?
The YubiKey 5 Series adds smart card (PIV), OpenPGP, and OTP codes. Security Key Series keys support FIDO2 and FIDO U2F only, at a lower price. If you sign in to websites only with passkeys or security keys, a Security Key Series key is sufficient.
How many keys should I purchase?
At least two. Register both keys with every account and store the backup key in a secure place, so that you can still sign in if the primary key is lost.
Is it water resistant, and does it require charging?
It is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance. It has no battery and requires no charging; it draws power from the port or, when tapped, from NFC.
Can the firmware be updated?
No. The firmware is installed at the factory and cannot be updated, so the available features depend on the firmware version the key ships with.
Will SIAMBC and Yubico ask for your PIN or for remote access to your device?
No. Neither will ever do so. Anyone who requests your key's PIN or account recovery codes, asks you to send them the key, or requests remote access to your computer or phone is attempting fraud, whether the person claims to be SIAMBC staff, uses Yubico's name, or cites a warranty claim.

Can I set it up myself?
Yes, and you should. It takes a few minutes: open the security settings of the account you want to protect, choose to add a security key or passkey, then insert or tap the key as the screen asks. Register a second key as a backup too.
FIDO2 has no default PIN; you set one the first time a website or app asks. How to set and reset the PIN. If you get stuck, our team can answer on LINE or by phone, without ever asking for your key's PIN or your account recovery codes.

If you registered a backup key with every account, you can still sign in with the backup, then remove the lost key from each account's security settings. That is why we recommend at least two keys.
Without a backup key, you need the account recovery codes each website or app gave you during setup. Keep those codes somewhere safe and never share them.
Will SIAMBC or Yubico ever ask for my key's PIN?
Never, neither of us, for any reason. SIAMBC and Yubico will never ask for your key's PIN, ask for remote access to your computer, or contact you asking you to send them the key. Anyone who does, whether they claim to be SIAMBC staff, use the Yubico name or say it is for a warranty claim, is a scammer.
