Written in September 2021, shortly after MIR4's global launch. The play-to-earn token economics described here changed considerably during 2022. The article is kept as written.

Going one step further with an MMORPG on a blockchain that lets players enjoy the game and earn from crypto at the same time.

MIR4 is a game on a blockchain developed by the team at WeMade Co Limited in Korea, which only opened to players on 26 August.

MIR4 supports 12 languages and is available in 170 countries. It is an MMORPG — a massively multiplayer online role-playing game — an online game that lets a great many players play together through a storyline. In MIR4, though, the items in the game are NFTs, making use of blockchain technology.

Another interesting thing that stands out about this game is that it lets players customise how they play in a number of ways, raid other people's assets, and form teams with friends and other players inside the game.

Earning from playing MIR4

Naturally, because the game is NFT-based, players can buy, sell and exchange in-game items using the DRACO coin — or earn from the game by taking an item called Darksteel and exchanging it for DRACO.

Darksteel counts as a very important resource for taking part in the player community. Players can mine Darksteel within the game, and 100,000 Darksteel can be smelted into 1 DRACO, which players can transfer into the IRL WeMix crypto wallet.

Players can improve their chances of finding Darksteel by grouping together and playing the "Hidden Valley Capture" mode, a PvP mode — player versus player — in order to beat another group of players and win the right to control the valley area, which produces Darksteel. Put another way, players can mine assets to increase their earnings while playing the game, which is the play-to-earn format currently surging in the NFT world.

Character classes that make the game more enjoyable

Players can choose a character from four classes: Warrior, focused on fighting with a sword; Sorcerer, using elemental magic; Taoist, who heals the team; and Lancer, who can attack and defend using a spear.

Join a clan to improve your chances

MIR4 is an MMORPG, so it suits grouping up with other players in order to improve the chances of beating a mission and taking home the rewards. Some demons in the game simply cannot be beaten by one player's strength alone. On top of that, the free loot system in the game means other players can team up to kill the player who managed to kill the demon, and take the reward from them. So finding friends to join your team and add strength looks like the best strategy for this game.

Some missions may even require opening a treasure chest, where the condition for opening it is that the player wanting to open it must donate certain resources — which forces players to rely on teamwork to accumulate as much copper, energy and Darksteel as possible.

Not only that: the game also has a clan shop system, where an owner granted the right can use the group's funds to register items in the shop, and registered items can be bought using the group's coin.

It is quite clear that the core of winning this game is joining the society between players. Clans can be joined either with or without a fee.

MIR4 is not actually a new game, but a version has just been developed that brings blockchain technology into it. The DRACO coin, the in-game crypto coin, is the central element that makes the game stable and much more convenient for players. The MIR4 team plans to open an NFT marketplace in October in order to develop the player ecosystem into something more interesting in future — which makes it well worth watching, both among people who enjoy games and among investors.
