Technology now plays an enormous part in daily life, and its role has grown steadily over the past decade. One development that cannot go unmentioned is the technology behind managing money online — blockchain, working alongside Bitcoin.

Between them, these two technologies have made transfers and monetary systems far more convenient to use, and have raised the level of security for the people using them. Bitcoin is a digital currency created through computer programming, and there are several ways to store it. One of the most popular is to keep it in a wallet built for Bitcoin — a Ledger, a Trezor or a KeepKey — because it stores the currency well and is hard to steal from, since it is protected by a code the user sets themselves.

What this shows is that as the technology has matured, buying, selling and exchanging have become easier, safer and cheaper. Transferring money abroad through a bank incurs enormous fees. Transferring Bitcoin over a blockchain does not charge you a transfer fee at all.
